Get better prizes for students

Letters

WITH the academic year coming to a close, most students are graduating and schools are giving academic awards for best performing students.
I was frustrated when my daughter who came second in Language & Literacy in her class was presented with a cheap Asian-made torch by her primary school in North Waghi, Jiwaka.
Language is a core subject and she was supposed to be given a better prize such as a dictionary or something better.
Students strive and compete with each other and they deserve to be recognised and awarded accordingly.
The school’s board of management and the administration needs to improve in this area if they are to produce best performing students in the future.
