Get into investments, districts told

Business

THE four districts in East New Britain have been told to venture into other business investments rather than concentrating on the same retail business idea.
Business finance and registration officer Natasha Aplin said this during the provincial statistics presentation on the current state of business development in the province recently.
She said the LLGs and districts in the province needed to identify where the business developments were.
Aplin said areas such as poultry, fisheries and agriculture needed more focus.
Presenting the 2019 database update on businesses, Aplin urged the LLG managers to help the people understand the potential business areas they could invest in.
“LLGs and districts must be focused more on their long term existing investments,”she said.
“That is where our potential lies in our districts and LLGs.
“We have the most factors of production such as land, resources and labour, we have it all but we lack capital skills and management.”
Alpin said investment involved a lot of cost so she urged them to be prudent.
She also encouraged the LLGs and districts to invest in treasury bills, bonds and real estate as well.
