Getting closer to God comes with challenges, says pastor

WHEN a Christian gets closer to God in prayer and commitment, problems and situations may come one after another, according to a pastor.
“Despite being faced with whatever problems in our life, we must continue to praise God in the mist of it,” Christian Outreach Centre pastor Ruth Solu explained to the Taurama Living Stream Church in the National Capital District on March 17.
She said we cannot allow “problems in our lives to defeat us as we are serving a God who is higher than this”.
“God tells us in the Bible to play our part and He will play His part,” Solu said.
“The higher we go in the spirit, the higher the situation comes to us.
“The Holy Spirit is with us.
“So let’s stay focus and stay alert, especially in these days,” Solu added.
She then referred to a story in the Bible where God told the Israelites to go around the Jericho wall in Israel seven times and the wall crumbled.
“We have to go around our own Jericho wall before God can break it down for us.
“Our Jericho wall is our own negative thoughts and impossibilities,” Soul said.
“The thoughts that is telling us that we cannot do it as it is too much for us.
“We must not complain of our problems and must continue to praise God.
“God speaks to us anywhere and at any time, and we must learn to listen.
“We don’t know what’s going to happen to us next day, next week or next month.
“We must be prepared.”
The pastor alluded our existence to the wise man in the Bible who build his house on a rock: it remained standing amid the strong winds and rain.
“Our rock is Jesus, and we must place our believe in Him alone,” Solu said.
