GOVERNOR-General Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae has extended get-well wishes to hospitalised former prime minister Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare.
A statement released by the family of Sir Michael earlier said the country’s first prime minister was receiving medical care for pancreatic cancer and had been in a critical condition.
“Lady Emeline joins me in extending to our nation’s founding father Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare our profound best wishes as he receives the care needed during this time,” Sir Bob said in a statement yesterday.
“We are thinking of you (Sir Michael) and praying that God’s heavenly peace and comfort be upon you and that you may recover soon.
“We extend also our well wishes to Lady Veronica during this time.
“We, as a nation, hold you both dear to our hearts and it is our hope that you will make good progress in your recovery.”
“I take this time to make a special plea to every Papua New Guinean throughout the country and abroad to come together in unity and prayer for (Sir Michael and Lady Veronica) that they may be assured of our love and support.”
