Ghost schools operating

IF the education secretary, minister for education and the PNG Teaching Service Commission is reading this paper, this letter intends to uncover the conduct of few corrupt district and provincial education officers allegedly approved non-operating schools (ghost schools) as functional schools to benefit immensely from the returns of their crook schemes.
The scheme targets very remote schools located on the edges of Southern Highland.
The 2020 SHP teacher’s posting list had widely uncovered teaching position(s) registered against few remote schools that had been closed for more than 15 years.
A cunning tactic by the so called corrupt but intelligent district and provincial education officers who had continued to knowingly approve fake or falsified school data and teacher information to illegally access thousands of TFF funds and other grants by collaborating with ghost school boards.
One such school allegedly identified is Sopise Community School.
A level 3 school located in the Sopisa Ward of the Erave Rural LLG in the Kagua-Erave district.
A school that has never been operating for more than 15 years.
A brief research conducted to ascertain the authenticity of the school uncovered the following;

  • Southern Highlands Education has lost its flavor and glories parents valued in the 80s and 90s. Teacher appointments have been politically motivated, bribery eminent, non-operating schools with ghost enrollments to scoop out funds, bribes taken to place teachers on payrolls for positions offered to nonexisting schools. People with money are putting their children outside of SHP, dubious ways devised to scoop out public monies. Don’t be surprised if the Free Education K20 million is scooped out in such ways for political support in 2022. Educated Southern Highlanders and people in the top posts are involved. Southern Highlands Education is accelrating backwards and will rocket faster with K20 million.
