Give teachers a fair deal

THE Higher Duty Allowance (HDA) for head teachers has to be paid fortnightly when the EDB023 Resumption . . . cont to pg 47 Forms are imputed into the pay system.
A few years back this allowance was being paid fortnightly but changes occurred over time and now head teachers are paid a lump-sum at the end of the year.
When this happened, head teachers had huge income tax deductions made, and so head teachers who worked hard over the year ended up getting less.
The government is milking dry its lowly paid servants while giving them huge workloads.
The allowance has to be actioned when Resumption Forms are entered into the Alesco Payroll System at the beginning of the year.
Head teachers perform a duty and that work has to be paid for when the work is done, and not accumulated over time.
In addition, when will the so-called three per cent pay rise be paid to teachers? The promised date has gone past.
It seems that the Education Department and TSC are enjoying themselves while the teachers suffer.
And, can someone at the NDoE say when will the Salary Scale Agreement for 2017 to 2019 be released to schools?
The Salary Scale for 2014 to 2016 expired last year.
Teachers need to be informed.
Time and again teachers either do not get paid on the correct substantive level or they are underpaid.
What is the meaning of this?
A new year has come and that is an opportunity to treat and serve teachers the way they should be treated.

Dumbfound.
