Good education supports development: Envoy

GOOD education is vital to producing qualified and educated human resources, Indonesian ambassador Ronald J P Manik says.
Manik told the Divine Word University academic year launching  on Friday that good education played an important role in supporting a strong and more globally competitive nation.
Manik said Indonesia had witnessed a significant growth in its education sector especially in the use of technology.
“Use of technology has brought benefits to the education institutions, students and stakeholders involved in it,” Manik said.
DWU president Professor Cecilia Nembou said the university’s vision was to be recognised nationally and internationally by its value-based innovation of technology to enhance learning and teaching and giving opportunities of higher education to as many learners as possible.
Archbishop of Madang Stephen Reichert during the holy Eucharist welcomed everyone to the academic year.
He said the DWU in Madang remained a beautiful, safe and peaceful campus.
“Everywhere in the media, there is news on bad things happening everywhere and the negative publicity promotes violence,” he said.
