PRINTING of common rolls to be decentralised is a well come news for the rural population.

We salute Electoral Commissioner Patilus Gamato for his bold statement and direction.

For the past elections some of our names were not on the common roll and therefore our rights to vote for our leaders were deprived of.

In some instances, election related tribal fights erupted because of common roll problems.

We never knew what happened at the end of the tunnel with our common rolls because we were always disadvantaged to explore such activities performed by the people at the upper hand.

With the decentralisation process we will have the opportunity to see our names because we will have excess to our districts which will be closer to our door steps to make sure no ghost names are printed on the common roll.

The responsible district and provincial administrators will have to make sure that this is done in a transparent manner without political influences.

We hope the O’Neill Government will allocate more funds to the PNG Electoral Commission to have all preparations completed for the 2017 election.

In the 2012 general election there were a lot of discrepancies which ended up in court cases.

It is the responsibility of all eligible voters to make sure your names are on the common roll because all of us have a right to choose our leaders.

Do not make any wrong decisions now.
