Gore: MSME council represents all businesses

The Micro Small Medium Enterprise (MSME) Council represents all small businesses, says founding president James Gore.
Gore said this when explaining the difference between the MSME Council and the Business Council.
He said the MSME sector was previously represented by the Business Council of Papua New Guinea but there was a need for specific representation so the council was formed.
“We never had an authentic MSME voice before,” Gore said.
“The reason why the association was formed is because we saw a vacuum and we didn’t see a voice for the MSME sector.
“The big players set the rules and we play by those rules. But now we want to have a voice and we are already participating in that.”
Gore said the government was one of the big players and the MSME council would like to see policies being tailored to encourage more small business to get into the formal sector.
