Goroka MP still in hibernation

Letters, Normal

THIS letter represent the view of more than 80,000 people of Goroka electorate.
Our MP Thompson Harokaqveh has been in office for more than half his term and yet all we are hearing are rhetoric but nothing in substance.
Where is his promise of making Goroka as the hub of major activities of the province and the rest of the highlands provinces?
We have several questions which we hope the MP can answer.
1. When is he going to stop the importation of lamb flaps and substitute with local beef, poultry, sheep and goats industry as promised? We are have the raw resources but need his intervention through the DSIP;
2. When is he going to remove the Nokondi flag as he believed it is a curse and what is his alternative?
3. When is he engaging the services of qualified EHP experts working outside and abroad in basic consultancy services during their vacation breaks as we learned EHP citizens?
4. When will the Gahuku High School saga be rectified and infrastructure improved? This includes the Goroka market land issue and its development. There is no end in this issue and: we need the MP to arbitrate;
5. All roads in Goroka town are in total disrepair and dilapidated. Only recently, that the EHPG and governor intervened to seal some of the roads. The MP said rural roads were his priority and responsibility. What is happening? They are barely passable now. We are not lazy people, we need roads and bridges to transport our produce to the markets.
6. Whilst the concept of the mobile clinic is good, did he consult the right people and experts? Who is the manager of this project? It is still lying idle at the Goroka Base Hospital car park. Does his need a driver?  I volunteer to drive it but the roads are impassable and I am not referring to the rural roads. Did the MP consider all these factors?
7. His JDP&BPC priorities look good on paper but the implementations is lacking. The district administrator does not seem to have any say in the implementation. Do we have a politically manipulated proxy administration?
8. The MP has three district offices, rural, urban and Goroka HQ. Is he aware that they are all falling apart? Are there any plans to maintain them or build new infrastructure buildings? If Henganofi, Lufa and Daulo can built theirs, why can’t we?
9. Most, if not all EHP MPs, including Chuave, Kandep, Jimi have houses in and operate out of Goroka. Can the MP talk with them to make some contribution from their DSIP to support our town infrastructure and maintain law and order? In his inauguration speech, the MP said he would do that, but to date, we are still waiting to see this.
10. What is the justification of sending K40,000 of Goroka people’s money on an Israeli-based faith organisation in PNG? Is this funding an effort to assist the Israeli neo-colonists to grab Palestinian land in Gaza?
11. The MP is not in Goroka but in Madang?  What is he doing there and frequenting the Chinese MCC office in Madang and Basamuk? The people of Madang did not give him the mandate to enter Parliament. Come back to your Kama village where you are needed most by your people.
The ball is in your court, Harokaqveh.
