GOROKA United and Lopi Brothers will look to claim the Goroka Rugby League premiership when they meet in the grand final at the Sir Danny Leahy Oval on Sunday.
Interim league president Rawiri Sabumei said in last week’s semifinals, United beat Crusaders 15-14 in extra time when Goroka Lahanis captain Charlie Buka kicked the winning field goal for United.
He said Brothers beat reigning premiers Gama Bulls 14-10.
Brothers will be led by former Lahanis siblings, Bernard and Felix Tatsim, with support from skipper Manu Olam, Manu Soli, Lowrie Lavari and Tasi Kawagle.
Sabumei said United had the moment as they were undefeated for the last 17 matches.
United coach and former Papua New Guinea Kumul Nicko Slain Ubile’s hopes will rest on Buka, Marki Morumo, Asa Koko, Jereme Abuzo, Raymond Buka, Clement Mieh, Desmond Koko and Douzen Hoyato.
Ubile said: “My players have been doing the little things right.
“Everyone is playing their part.”
Meanwhile, in the Under-21 grand final, United will meet West while Norths will face Poroma Tigers in the women’s decider.
