SPONSORS of the PNG NRL Bid are in for a real treat, with Channel Nine’s Footy Show star Phil Gould coming to PNG for the first time to work with sponsors as they plan their campaign to support PNG’s push for an NRL licence.
Well known as a highly successful State of Origin and NRL coach ‘Gus’ Gould  is also a prominent commentator and known for his fearless views in the Sun Herald and on Triple FM radio.
His words of encouragement to PNG’s sponsors of the NRL Bid and all the rugby league supporters of PNG were welcomed from a great coach who won the most popular sporting commentators award for four years.
“I am looking forward to the trip immensely. I have heard a lot about the passion of the PNG people for rugby league,”  Gould said.
“It will be great to experience their excitement first hand.
“Australian rugby league should always be mindful of our responsibility to assist in the development of our sport in other countries. As our closest neighbour, PNG should be given special attention”  Gould said.
He will participate inthe PNG NRL Bidsponsor workshop next month.
Planning and campaigning for the license brings together the best in the business of rugby league and marketing as the corporate community of PNG listen intently to the man who instilled so much pride in the Blues side that he led to win 14 State of Origin games for New South Wales.
Long time associate, Paul Broughton, Strategic Advisor to the Bid managed the NSW end of the Origin Series and is the only non playing person to receive an actual series game ball. “I have the utmost respect for Phil Gould and the contribution he is making to our efforts in seeking a license in the NRL for PNG”.
