Government decision praised

Letters

IT is good to see that the Government is now realising the pleas of the churches and people and had given the approval to declare PNG a Christian country.
It is now time to make our stand to the world.
Even though we are embedded in Christianity, people have gradually succumbed to Western lifestyle and tend to demoralise themselves.
Today, PNG seems to be overcome by immoral behaviours with those so-called know-it-all trying to create a secular society.
Despite that, churches are playing a huge role in impacting people’s lives and bringing hope to them.
Therefore, the move by the Government to declare PNG a Christian nation is a right decision.
I can tolerate criticisms that may go against the Government arguing that it might restrict people’s rights under the constitution.
However, one thing everyone should understand is that any issue or proposal made by the Government should be scrutinised and shouldn’t be taken out of context or used it for political blame game.
The constitution is not permanent, it is fragile and can be amended.
PNG was venerated by Christian churches and people have been thought good moral standards.
It’s time we recognised moral laws rather than secular laws.
The approach taken by the Government good we should support that.

  • I guess the declaring of PNG a Christian country is to reaffirm the fantasy.. PNG to become a Rich Black Christian country on earth. Nigeria is a rich black country but it allows freedom of religion to all it’s citizens…

  • Only nonbelievers would make a lot unnecessary comments on this declaration, otherwise every God fearing citizen of this nation welcomes this as one the most import thing in the history of this nation.
