INSTITUTE of Business Studies University (IBSU) Chancellor Gabriel Pepson has urged the Government to invest in private sector education.
He made this known during the IBSU graduation last month.
Pepson said private institutions could help to reduce law and order problems confronting the nation.
“Private institutions like IBSU is keen to contribute to the development of this nation but it needs Government’s support,” he said.
“Private sectors can play an important role in the development of education and human resource as well.”
Pepson said Papua New Guinea needed an educated workforce.
“Most of the problems we see today can be controlled if we have more students enrolled in our schools,” he said.
“Developed countries develop because they invested heavily in education.
“These countries mobilise all resources at their disposal and even borrowed heavily to invest in education.”
Pepson made reference to countries like Japan, Korea and Singapore had no natural resources but they were successful than PNG because of good leadership.
He stressed that good leaders had overall vision for their countries and therefore they invested in education.
“With good leadership, graduates from universities like ours here today, find jobs waiting for them when they graduate.”
