NORTHERN Governor Garry Juffa says the Government cannot just expect people to praise them for the infrastructure development taking place in the country.
Juffa (pictured) was reacting in Parliament to a statement by Nuku MP Joseph Sungi that he could not understand why people were always criticising the Government despite all the infrastructure developments over the past four years.
Juffa said people had the right to ask the 85 members of the Government about the tender process involved in the awarding of the contracts for those infrastructure development.
“Like a road project for K10 million went up to K100 million,” he said.
“A building that was supposed to cost K5 million end up to be K50 million.
“Now we cannot just clap and be positive and say that is a nice building or a nice road project.
“We should also take stock of that it cost more than it is worth.
“Why did this happen under our watch?
“Our people expect us to protect their funds, their rights, their resources.”
