IT is  very surprising to see Morobe Governor, Kelly Naru going against the Lae City Authority Bill.

Well I accept his democratic rights but not in the best interest of reformation and change.

As a true Morobean when I analyze the City Authority Bill, it is really good and highly beneficial to development of Lae City.

The first thing the Governor should understand is that the authority will minimize financial burden on his budget because City Authority will take care of Lae City and he will spend more money on rural areas of Morobe Province.

My simple question is that, does such an organization structure conducive or good for a modern Lae City developmental prospects. I don’t think so, because the structure doesn’t contained top modern city planners, engineers, architectures, landscapers, economists, accountants and other professionals.

It is very logical and appropriate to welcome this agency for development issues and why our good Governor resisting the change without analyzing the long-term benefits.

This bill will promote Lae City because we will have very highly qualified people (both PNG and Expatriates) to run the city in all areas such landscaping, surveying, architecture, engineering, accounting, computing technology, economics and other areas.

Also the authority will get budget straight from the government rather than waiting for the provincial or district budget. This will give opportunity to Morobe provincial government to fund other projects.

If the governor is really serious about what he is saying, what are alternatives he have for Lae City to become industrial city. Can he manage both Morobe Province and City Authorities’ development issues?

Naru should work with Loujaya Kouza  for the good of Morobe Province.  He must understand that there are people of all works of life who live and  work there and we can’t discriminate against them.

Naru should take-back his comments on ‘Lae city authority invaded by outsiders’. This comment is unbecoming of a modern day leader who doesn’t want to change and reformation.

If he talking about Ralph Saulep and Elizabeth Bradshaw appointed in the city authority then he made a greatest mistake because these two people are highly qualified and experience to hold a position.

Please Governor think again and see if the Lae City Authority is genuine and good-plate-form for development of our city.
