A NEW High School in Kagua-Erave, Southern Highlands, will soon have a library, classrooms and staff houses constructed through a funding of K500,000 from the provincial government over the wekeend.
Aiya Robesi High School chairman John Yano told The National that this was the second funding allocated to the school since its establishment last year.
He said the K500,000 was given by Governor William Powi in July.
Powi and his provincial executive council opened a classroom building and other facilities at the school at that time, he said.
“The school received K1 million in total,” Yano said.
“The money will be put to good use to construct classrooms, a library and teachers’ houses.”
He said the school had been established to cater for grade eight students from Aiye local level government’s (LLG) 15 primary schools as they struggled to enroll at high schools in other districts.
“Today, they have a high school and the funding made is appreciated by the 32,000 people in the LLG, their children are enjoying facilities funded by the provincial government,” he said.
