THE 2020 grade 10 written expression examinations scheduled for June 4 have been deferred to June 18, says Education secretary Dr Uke Kombra.
Kombra said the rescheduling was done because of the disruption of classes caused by the coronavirus-enforced state of emergency.
He called on schools to make up for the lost lessons and said some classes would have to be held during school holidays to make up for the lost time.
“The two main things we are asking schools to do is, firstly, to recover lessons and secondly, to observe measures put in place to prevent and control an outbreak of Covid-19 in schools,” Kombra said.
“All schools are to ensure that students and teachers wear masks to school, wash hands and practise social distancing in classrooms.
“I know there will be many challenges, class periods may be extended and for those schools were students move from class to class will now have to change to a setting where the teachers will move from class to class,” he said.
