ABOUT 400 graduating students from the National Polytechnic Institute in Lae on Friday were urged to make good choices in life to be able to maximise their opportunities.
Lae MP John Rosso, during the institute’s 10th graduation ceremony at the Lae Secondary School hall, told the students that the polytech (formerly Lae Technical College) had been in the city “for ages” and they should have aspirations to become someone better.
“Your parents and guardians have invested so much in you just to send you to school to become a better person,” Rosso said.
“You want to graduate today and become someone, you want to graduate today and achieve your dreams (then) you have to make good choices.
“Don’t be disappointed, there’re a lot of opportunities out there.
“You guys represent one of the highest learning institutions in the country – the PNG Polytechnical Institute.
“If you decide not to work hard, decide not to be inspired, decide not to dream, then you’ll have a boring life because you didn’t make good choices.”
