Grand final rematch set

DIGICEL ExxonMobil Cup round five match at Aipus Oval in Wabag will see 2023 grand final replay between Enga Mioks and Goroka Lahanis.
The 2023 undefeated kings, Mioks, could not continue their dominance in 2024 as they are yet to win a game after four rounds. Sunday’s match will see Mioks looking to break the drought in front of their home fans.
However, the Lahanis are certainly not easy-beats; the Bintangor-sponsored side also recorded their first win of the season when they beat Gulf Isou 14-8 in round four match in Port Moresby last week.
Lahanis spine in hooker Charlie Buka with halves Allan Karapus and Cyborge Oliver were dangerous in attack in round four and they will be looking to get the same result. Veteran Thompson Teteh will be leading the Lahanis pack. Front-rowers in Zebedee Uruba and Majo Joel have been dominant in the win over Isou and it would be an interesting battle against their Mioks counterparts who also boast some quality forwards.
For Mioks, it has been a frustrating week for them following some dubious refereeing which might have contributed to their loss against Hela Wigmen last week.
Mioks coach Billy Gau said last week his men needed improvements on completion of sets and minimising errors which will be crucial for them if they were to beat the Lahanis.
The Mioks strike power of fullback Joel William, combining with the halves in Kumul Kaupa and Gary James, will be the one to watch.
William was on fire last week using his speed and straight runs which caused problems for Wigmen defence. Mioks forwards in Ismael Gibson, Richard Bill and Maya Tusa have a big task as they have to match the Lahanis big men in aggression in the middle.
