THE main game of the Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League New Guinea Islands Conference saw the clash between West Tribe and Greengold ending in a scoreless encounter.
Both West New Britain sides looked sharp with their home crowd backing them but their strikers were off target yesterday.
West Tribe had a lot of opportunities to finish off with a victory but it was Greengold goalkeeper Alkin Karapo who stole the show with a lot of saves that denied the West Tribe attempts.
West Tribe’s Maxem Jacob showed great speed and agility which gave him an edge but Karapo was Greengold’s hero of the day.
Greengold coach Sam Abraham praised Karapo for his efforts in defence, and also his players for giving their best and finishing off with a draw.
“I am happy with the draw,” Abraham said.
“We worked hard to be here and even though we didn’t score, we managed to finish off with a draw.
“We had two trial games with the same team and I am happy with the result because it was a tough game.
“Our goalkeeper was alert and he did his best to produce a lot of saves, so credit to him for doing a good job. We had some good chances to score but I think we lacked ball control and that cost us.
“So that is something we will have to work on before our next match.”
In the earlier match, AROB demolished Radazz 4-0.
