TOTI City, Laiwaden and Morobe United recorded wins in the Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League Northern Conference on Saturday.
The triple header played at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium in Lae saw City crushing Markham 4-0 with goals coming from Michael Foster, captain Raymond Gunemba and Nigel Dabinyaba contributing a double.
In the second match, visitors Laiwaden — after coming off a win in Madang last weekend — stopped Besta PNG United 2-1.
The Bob Morris-coached Laiwaden were first on the score card with a goal, however, Besta managed to find an equaliser.
Not to be pushed over easily, Laiwaden applied consistency to their football.
This led to the visitors finding a winner in the dying stages to secure maximum points.
The main fixture of the triple header between Morobe United and Morobe Wawens was on the fence in the opening minutes with both teams unable to get into their game.
The match seesawed until midfielder Eliude Fugre found Joshua Oscar from the halfway mark.
Using his speed, Oscar beat Morobe Wawens’ Kenneth Pilailo to push the ball past goalkeeper Jason Bendi and give Morobe United a 1-0 lead.
Morobe Wawens came back strongly in the second half tightening their defence and denying the conference leaders from adding more goals.
Both teams had equal opportunities in the second half to score goals but their strikers could not find the mark to add to the scoreline.
Northern Conference results: Toti City 4 Markham 0, Laiwaden 2 Besta PNG United 1, Morobe United 1 Morobe Wawen 0.
