Groom new athletes for international events

The National, Wednesday August 08th, 2012

I AM frustrated that all our Olympians bowed out of their respective divisions in the first round except for Toea Wisil.
Only taekwondo exponent Theresa Tona has yet to compete.
So much money and time have been spent on their preparations here and abroad.
Yet we are still not competitive enough.
What an embarrassment to those who have
dedicated their time, effort and money behind the scene to make it possible for our PNG contingent
to travel to London.
Of all the athletes, only Wisil made it through the opening round to qualify for the heats where she competed against some of the best in the world.
Her time was good. Well done, Wisil.
I appeal to the administrators of all sports to start grooming new blood for future events.
I think they can perform better than the current bunch of seasoned sportsmen and women.
