A REGISTERED association from Imbonggu, Southern Highlands, is embarking on community development initiatives to improve local living standards.
Papera soul hunters association president Danel Kerha said they registered the youth group, which was established in 1993, with the Investment Promotion Authority (IPA) and would now work with churches and the Government to deliver social services in the Lower Mendi local level government.
He said it took almost 26 years to register the association because they were operating within their means and had limited resources .
Kerah told The National that with development taking place in their district, the association aimed to work in equipping youths with the knowledge to contribute towards development.
He said people were important and were “the centre for development” and that the association was creating a “benchmark initiative to help deliver much needed services” to the community.
Kerah said the association would help to maintain new development initiatives and seek opportunities, and activities to engage and empower the local people.
“The association is prepared to help in service delivery through Government and church partnership in the community,” he said.
