Group calls for Governor Crittin to step down

A GROUP of Milne Bay people is calling on Governor Sir John Luke Crittin to step down and give one of the other four MPs a chance to take over.
Milne Bay Friends Foundation president Allan Baniyamai said Sir John had not been able to attend to law and order issues because of his reported poor health.
“There is a lack of leadership at the helm of the Milne Bay government,” he said.
“The position of governor is very significant in any provincial government. He is the leader of the leaders (and) chairman of the Provincial Executive Council which is the executive arm of government at provincial level.”
No comment could be obtained from Sir John yesterday.
But Kiriwina-Goodenough MP Douglas Tomuriesa said he had informed Prime Minister James Marape about the current state of affairs in Milne Bay.
“I have told (him about) what is happening in the province.”
