A CHRISTIAN group from Melbourne, Australia, will take part in the Repentance Day event tomorrow at Parliament House.
The Planetshakers is a Pentecostal Christian adult and youth movement.
International director Pastor Neil Smith told The National that Speaker Theo Zurenuoc had approved their participation at the event.
The group visited Lae last week and will continue their activities in Port Moresby to coincide with Friday’s occasion.
“We felt God spoke to us and we wrote a letter to Prime Minister Peter O’Neill,” Smith said.
He said they planned to meet O’Neill but on the day they arrived, he was in Parliament.
“I met with the finance minister, officials in the Education Department, Juvenile Justice and the speaker who endorsed what we were doing,” Smith said.
“The plan is not just to work with churches, but with the Government and businesses so we can bring sustainability.
“We’ve got a hip-hop band called LZ7 and  we’ve got the Planetshakers schools team.
“Our college teams in halfway houses are visiting hospitals and meeting with different youth leadership teams in the country. Our plan is to come and stand alongside the leaders of the nation and business people.
“There are some business initiatives we are looking at in Lae, like a fruit factory staring next year that will employ thousands of people.
“We’ve already got that in place.”
