Gubag joins defending champions

KUMUL Petroleum National Soccer League (NSL) side Tusbab Stallions have announced the departure of Stahl Gubag to defending champions Lae City ahead of the Aug 1 restart of the country’s premier football competition.
“I would like to announce the transfer of Gubag to City,” Stallions president Afinini Tawi said in a statement over the weekend.
“He was approached by City and he approached the management on July 11 prior to any official transfer window notice.
“We advised him to wait until an official transfer window notice was issued by the NSL.
“The City management was advised to officially seek a release and we have yet to receive any formal request on the release of Gubag.
“We will only release Gubag after July 25 to avoid being seen as supporting player poaching.”
Tawi said Gubag’s departure would dent their hopes to secure a top-four spot for the finals.
