Guinness: Lay complaints at police station, not Facebook

National

PEOPLE should not go to social media to lay their complaints as there is no such thing as a Facebook police station, says Acting Comm of Police northern command Peter Guinness.
“When you have a complaint against the police, or anyone for that matter, do not go to social media and post your complaints there,” he said.
Instead, do the right thing and go to the police station to have your complaint reported and registered.”
Recently, it has been observed that many people are posting their complaints against police or any other person on Facebook, he added.
“Going to Facebook and making complaints there is not good as there are tendencies that your complaint may never be heard.
Guinness said in many instances, those who posted their complaints on Facebook, were not using their real names.
In a question raised regarding drugs being transported from the Highlands to New Guinea Islands, he said it was an on-going problem faced in the region.
“We haven’t experienced so much of this illegal trade from the highlands to the coast.”
Guinness said this was becoming prevalent at and there was a big need to increase penalties in the courts.
“Laws have to be amended quickly to increase the penalty against drug,” he said.
“If we cannot address this problem now, we might have so many mentally affected people on the streets in the future”.
