Two officers reject appointments

TWO police officers appointed to senior positions in Madang last month have rejected the postings, according to Assistant Police Commissioner Peter Guinness.
Lae Metropolitan Superintendent operations Fred Kaiwa was appointed on Sept 12 to be the provincial police commander in Madang.
Chief Inspector Timothy Pomoso was appointed to be the Madang Police Station commander.
But Guinness, the Northern regional police commander, said both men had rejected the transfer from Lae to Madang. He said their replacements had been identified – one from Goroka and one already based in Madang.
Guinness said Kaiwa and Pomoso would be “dealt with”.
“As senior officers under the administration of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary, they cannot decline any appointment,” he said.
He said since the appointments of the replacements in Madang, policing had improved in Madang.
“Current Madang PPC, Senior Insp Rubiang Manzuc, is working with officers who are going out to serve the interests of the people through attending to complaints and carry out policing,” he said.
Guinness said attending to complaints and conducting awareness to the people had restored public confidence in the police force.

  • Its seems the RCPNG is starting to loose control over its personnel.
If their command line there collapses, Madang would encounter a crisis similar to the Sandline – Military Standoff.
RCPNG, please get back in command and get your officers in line.

  • Petty crime in Madang is on an increasing level and little PMV owners operating in route 17A is worse hit. Bus holdup is normal. Police Management changes have no effect but shocked into the status qou currently experienced in Madang
