Gurias keen to do better despite win

THE Rabaul Gurias say they are not getting carried away despite leapfrogging the Hela Wigmen and Mendi Muruks into second spot after their 26-12 win over the Enga Mioks.
Gurias manager Mapua Tamtu told The National yesterday that the side had been guilty of poor ball security since the start of the season.
“Our completion rate was poor again,” he said after their round-five win at the Lae Rugby League Ground in the Morobe capital on Sunday.
“We were only able to complete a handful of sets.
“We can’t keep losing possession cheaply and expect to get away with victory off the back of our defence.
“We just have to keep working on our attack and discipline.”
Tamtu said the Gurias had also conceded “silly” penalties over the past five rounds.
The Gurias have two competition points fewer than ladder leaders Lae Tigers,
“Our defence is good but we still have to work on a lot of areas,” he said.
“We allowed the Mioks to score and when they did, we gave them a chance to come back into the match.
“We can do better in defence.
“We also gave away too much possession.
“We were fortunate to score first and get ourselves on the front foot early.”
