RABAUL Gurias are primed to host Mt Hagen Eagles in round six of the Digicel Cup at the Kalabond Oval in Kokopo tomorrow (2pm kick-off).
After three straight victories against Mendi Muruks, Lae Tigers and Kimbe Cutters, Gurias manager Mapua Tamtu told The National that they would look to continue their winning streak. “We will not change our line-up for this weekend,” he said.
“Our preparations have so far been good.
“We’re just trying to improve on areas that we lacked in attack and defence.
“All in all, the players are ready, so I’m sure we’ll give a good challenge against the Eagles.”
Tamtu said the inclusion of Gurias veteran and former Hunters five-eighth Ase Boas had boosted their morale since round one. He said teamwork and combinations between their experienced campaigners had also been key to their strong form.
“We have a lot of new recruits for this season and it has been a great challenge for the squad,” Tamtu said.
“But we happy to include a few experienced players to just guide them.
“Ase and Garry Lo are in that group and we are happy with their leadership. They have been very instrumental for the past five rounds.
“We hope to record more positive results for the remainder of the season.”
