AN eye witness from Western Highlands confirmed the report of bias officiating in the match between Gulf Isapaea and Mt Hagen Eagles last weeken in Mt Hagen.

Steven Taka from the True Warriors Ministry watched the match from beginning to the end and said what was reported in yesterday’s National was true.

“I was there from the start till the end and I am very disappointed in what I saw. What was reported in the paper is true,” Taka said.

“Everyone at the oval was supporting the Gulf Isapea but when the match officials let the match go past the full time everyone walked away from the field disappointed.

“Isapea won the match fair and square at the end of 80 minutes,” Taka added.

Taka appealed to the organisers of the Digicel Cup in Hagen and Hagen Eagles officials to be honest as what was witnessed last weekend was unprofessional.

“Is this the kind of treatment we want to give our visiting teams? I appeal to the match officials and the Hagen Eagles to change their attitude because it’s spoiling the game.”

Meanwhile, the chairman of Judiciary Committee David Silovo confirmed the incident but referred the matter to the PNG NRL.

“I witnessed the incident, Eagles scored the try in illegal extra time,” Silovo said.
