A POLICE officer who graduated last week from Bomana Police College has finally realised his dream.

Const Francis William, 27, from Bitam village in  Dei district, Western Highlands finally accomplished his aspiration to become an officer in the constabulary.

“I always dreamt of becoming a police officer and serving my people and country.

“Now that I have graduated I’m very happy because I have achieved something in life to be proud of,” he said.

“Since being the only officer from my district and village to have come this far, it is something to be very proud of.”

Having left school in 2008, Francis never gave up hope of securing a decent employment and after three years of trying, his prayers were answered when he was enlisted for cadet training at Bomana.

His clansmen Phillip Nema said: “Francis has made us all his family proud and to show our appreciation to him, we held a big feast to honour his graduation.”

William comes from a family of five and is now an example of a persistent never-say-die attitude kind of people.

“I encourage young people nowadays to forget doing wrong things and get into something worthwhile and useful so that you can help contribute to the nation as well,” William said.
