HARDWARE Haus opened its first express branch at the Stop N Shop North Waigani in Port Moresby yesterday to offer hardware products to its customers.
City Pharmacy Ltd (CPL) chief operating officer Navin Raju acknowledged that a lot of fake and counterfeit items were in the market, so Hardware Haus wanted to provide quality brands to people.
Hardware Haus is a subsidiary of CPL.
“From our marketing and customer feedback is that Papua New Guinea customers are sick of cheap products that are largely available in the shops that are popping up everywhere,” he said.
“At Hardware Haus, we take pride in quality products, at affordable prices, so we are now trying to compete with cheap-end market and I think Papua New Guinea customers are more sophisticated and they are actually looking for the products that we are stocking.”
Hardware Haus national commercial manager Andre Kock said this is a new concept that the business was looking at expending into the community.
“Hopefully, we will be able to carry it out to a lot of the other centres in the country,” he said.
Raju said Hardware Haus was looking at extending to other provinces.
“Where we have a large shop, you will find that the customers are finding it difficult to come into our shops,” he said. So we are taking a smaller version of a Hardward Haus and bringing it to other centres. We are looking at a few options in Lae and in other regional areas.”
