FOLLOWING a short stint with the Hela Wigmen in the offseason, former SP Hunters halfback Nick Hasu says he is ready make the best of the 2021 Digicel Cup following his trial with the Central Dabaris on Sunday.
Hasu said his commitments outside of rugby league last season had seen him move between clubs however he said he was ready to settle down and concentrate on his career this season.
“I was with the Goroka Lahanis last year but since my family was based in Port Moresby, I had to pull out and I had a few games with the Gulf Isou towards the end of the year,” he said.
“I learnt a lot good things in the game from Isou coach Nigel Hukula who has experience with the Hunters and the Kumuls coaching staff.
“I got a call up from the Wigmen in the offseason while I was in Port Moresby and I joined them for a month’s training but I decided to go with the offer from the Dabaris for this season.
“A lot of talented and hardworking young players are with the Dabaris so I just hope I can add to the team that’s been built and work from here.
“The Dabaris are built around discipline for this season and a lot of the guys here are committed to getting the job done and that’s one thing I like about them,” Hasu said.
The 23-year-old added that the welcome from the Central based franchise was an encouraging start to the new season with Hasu focused on establishing himself with the Dabaris.
“It’s a new environment that I’ve come into but everyone here with the coaches and players have opened up to me so I feel like I’m at home with this group,” Hasu said.
