SEPIK general secretary Clarence Hukahu has acknowledged business houses, entities and individuals for their support during the Women’s National Soccer League season.
He said the financial support they received throughout the season totalled K68,000 which assisted them with logistics, accommodation, allowances and other necessities until Saturday when the team returned to Wewak.
“Special mention to the Papua New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA) for supporting us with accommodation and transport costs since round eight,” Hukahu said.
“If that support didn’t come through, Sepik would possibly have withdrawn from the competition.”
Other notable support included K23,000 from the East Sepik Grassroots Games, K20,000 from the East Sepik Governor’s Office, K10,000 from PNGFA, K5,000 from the Sepik Futsal Association and contributions from individuals and families which totalled about K10,000.
Hukahu said all of which totalled K68,000 of the proposed K100,000 as per the submissions to business houses and politicians last October.
“A lot of people might think that the club has a lot money but they do not realise the hardships (we) faced for the past five months,” he said.
