IT would have been a different story for a patient from the Yowai area of Karimui Salt-Nomane, Chimbu, if a chartered light aircraft did not land last Tuesday.
Bomai Jacob had been quite ill for some time and had to be airlifted from Nomane to Kundiawa due to poor road conditions.
According to local Motsy David, who assisted Jacob, he admitted that health services in Nomane had been neglected over time.
“It was very fortunate and you could say it was divine intervention’ because I had actually chartered the aircraft (from Northcoast Aviation) with K2,500 to do some community awareness work by way of hosting community games for the 2021 Christmas season and the 2022 New Year games in the district,” he said.
“I saw them rushing this young man across the airfield on a homemade stretcher and it just broke my heart to see this happening in my very own district.”
