Heavy rain floods gardens, homes in Central

SOME areas in Central have been devastated by floods caused by recent continuous downpour and strong winds.
This was according to a businessman from Gulf, Alex Hearo on his way to Port Moresby.
He said some homes and food gardens in villages between Bereina and Mekeo were under flood waters for several days.
Hearo said fallen trees and pot holes became a problem for motorists.
He added that some people took advantage of the situation and charged passing vehicles K5 for having to remove trees which fell onto the main road.
The National Weather Office predicted heavy rains to occur and persisted in coming days in some areas of Southern, Momase, Highlands and New Guinea Islands.
