Hekari face Al Wahda in opener

PNG champions Hekari United will have to deal with hosts Al Wahda if they are to reach the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup in the United Arab Emirates and head coach Jerry Allen is eagerly anticipating the upcoming tournament.
“New Zealand have lifted the profile of Oceania  to a new level on the world stage and it has been a great inspiration to everyone in our region. But I do not think we can expect to emulate this performance overnight,” Allen told the fifa.com.
“PNG have never qualified for a FIFA event, so we have a lot to learn from this first experience. We will go to Abu Dhabi to do our absolute best. I see this as a great opportunity for Hekari and PNG to make our own impression on the world stage and show what we can do.”
