Hela admin gives land to police centre

HELA administration has given a big piece of land in Tari to police to build a new police command centre.
Four hectares of vacant land adjacent to Tari police station have been given to the Police Department.
Police commander Martin Lakari commended Hela provincial government under the leadership of Governor Philip Undialu, administrator William Bando and other MPs for their “wise decision”.
Lakari said land was a problem for police since Hela became a province in 2012.
He said the current Tari police station was built during the colonial era.
Lakari said the population of Hela was increasing and this put more pressure on police to build a bigger police station, cell blocks, administration building and vehicle parking area.
He said he served as police commander in many provinces but had never seen such good working relationship between leaders and police.
