HELA has a new security firm that will help police maintain law and order in the provincial capital Tari and in some parts of the LNG project site.
The security firm will be protecting companies and businesses operating in Tari and work with other law enforcement agencies in the province.
Tari Hela Security Service was launched last Friday.
The firm now has 17 guards who provide services to companies operating in Tari and plans to extend its services to LNG project sites as well.
Company chairman and director Timothy Hayara said law and order was the key for Hela to face new changes and a security service would aid the work of regular police personnel in that area.
Hayara said the company would create job opportunities for youths and educate people on law and order issues in Hela.
He said the security firm was looking forward to securing contracts with LNG project developer, ExxonMobil.
After the launching, Tari-Pori MP and Hela Transitional Authority chairman James Marape took one of the new guards as his escort and flew him to Port Moresby.
