Hela Wigmen announce co-captains for ’21

HELA Wigmen chairman Andy Hetra has announced centre Standford Talita and forward Valentine Culligan as their co-captains for the upcoming Digicel Cup season.
He said both players had been with the team for a number of years and this was recognition of their loyalty.
Culligan was the captain last season and led his side to the title before gaining selection into the SP Hunters’ train-on squad from which he later withdrew due to his studies.
“For this year, we will be having two co-captains, Valentine Culligan and Stanford Talita,” Hetra said.
“Talita joined the team in 2017 as a young man and he has played in this jumper ever since.
“He is indebted to the club and his growth and development as a rugby player is synonymous with the Wigmen.
“Culligan has also played with the club for the last four years.
“Their co-captaincy is in recognition for their loyalty.
“We’re giving them the responsibility to captain the club and we know that they’re going to do a good job.”
Meanwhile, Talita said he was grateful for the opportunity to lead the team as co-caption alongside Culligan.
“It has been a long time since I joined the club and I’m happy to be given this great opportunity to lead the team this season,” he said.
“I’m also happy with my co-captain Culligan.
“Last year, he led us to the grand final and we won.
“So this year, I’m confident that we’ll work together to reach the finals again.”
