A MEDICAL team from Harmony’s Hidden Valley gold mine will travel to Copenhagen, Denmark, to attend the Emergency Medical Services Copenhagen Congress next week.
The congress is from April 16 to 18.
Members of Team Kumul are nurses Nancy Abo, Hilda Makis and Sailas Kamoang.
The team will compete against nine emergency services teams from Europe in exposing the best in emergency response. The teams are the East Midlands Ambulance Service (UK), ES ASUR Switzerland, Falk Denmark (Denmark), Falk Medical Services (London, UK), Greater Copenhagen Fire Department (Denmark), Ocean Medical (Portugal), Rettungdienst fmi EMS (Switzerland), Scottish Ambulance Service (UK) and Sweden Ambulance Union (Sweden),
Hidden Valley’s Paramedic Superintendent Ole Juul said the competition “will rely on team work, skills, experience and the ability to find a solution when challenged”.
The three senior nurses have between them more than 2500 training sessions.
“The competition will be scenario-based events that test each team’s ability to manage patients in various circumstances with critical medical conditions and trauma,” Ole said.
Team leader Abo said the training at Hidden Valley had given them the confidence to participate in such events.
