Strong winds expected in Central, Milne Bay

A low pressure system is forecast to develop in the Coral Sea just off the coast of Central, according to the National Weather Service assistant director Jimmy Gomoga.
“The winds are most likely to pick up by Tuesday (tomorrow),” Gomoga, pictured, said.
“There will be possible issuance of the strong wind warning by then.
“The tropical cyclone may have an impact on the coastal villages of Central and the western Milne Bay Islands.”
Moderate to fresh north-westerly winds will prevail across the country throughout the week.
“This system has a potential to develop into a tropical cyclone by the early hours of Wednesday morning.”
Cloudy periods with afternoon and evening rain and thundery showers are expected in most parts of the country.
Central and Milne Bay should experience strong winds and rough sea as a result of the low system developing in the Coral Sea.
The seasonal forecast for Southern, Momase and the Highlands regions to experience normal to above normal rainfalls.
People around the country are advised to be aware of the expected weather conditions in their regions and take the necessary precautions.
Gomoga said these places would experience severe thunderstorms, strong winds and rough seas.
People are warned to be aware of flooding, landslides and to avoid going out at sea in small vessels.
