Highway not safe during festive season

Letters

IT is becoming risky to travel the Highlands Highway during the festive season.
There are too many hold-ups.
These usually occur at areas where the road conditions are bad.
I was travelling from Lae in the night to Kompri Valley in Henganofi with four other vehicles behind us.
Criminals with factory-made guns rushed out without knowing that the PMV’s crew were from their area.
The crew from the bus I was on got out and put up a fight and chased them away.
The Government should fix the highway to limit armed hold-ups.
We want the Eastern Highlands police to be stationed in these areas for safety of travellers and warn people from Kompri, Henganofi not to support criminal activities.
People should be free to travel.
