Hike in fees

Letters

I am disappointed with the UPNG administration’s deliberate ploy to kill this country’s future generation through conditional offers of space for study and hike in fees against the interim council’s decision to maintain the 2018 tuition fees at K2990.
There are so many reasons why such hash and forced conditions are tantamount to the children during these hard economic times.
First, students offered late acceptance notices to pay up in five days is disaster for those aspiring students.
They have not been given adequate time like those selected online.
These students were eligible but because of the illegal elevation of GPA, they were dropped initially. They need to be given sufficient four weeks to pay up.
Second, there is still confusion on whether to pay K4200 or K2999 as in 2018.
The administration has to come clear on this.
On top of the mounting pressure on the children and parents, the administration’s disorganised registration arrangements in a nonsense.
This is the University of PNG, the country’s pride hence it must have expansion infrastructure programme.
