Hohola youths praised for staging peaceful Easter tourney

HOHOLA youths have been praised for staging a peaceful and successful Easter tournament in the National Capital District over the weekend.
Kandiu Easter Cup and Hohola Flies president Kelly Yambi said the youths who competed in the rugby league matches had shown maturity throughout the tournament.
“I would like to commend all the Hohola youths who competed in the tournament,” he said.
“I congratulate them for taking the initiative to ensure that there is peace.”
Yambi thanked National Capital District (NCD) Grassroots Network Foundation Incorporated founder and patron Michael Kandiu for sponsoring the tournament which kept the youths occupied during Easter. “On behalf of all the youths, I would like to extend our special thanks to Michael Kandiu for funding the tournament,” he said.
Kandiu, who attended the finals last Friday, encouraged the youths to focus on activities that would benefit them like sports.
Kandiu kicked off the finals and presented K20,000 in cash prizes to the winning teams and runners-up.
In the Cup final, Rain Tree Pirates beat Erom Tigers 13-8 to win K5,000 while the runners-up collected K2,500.
The Plate final saw Freeway Bumpers sink Nine Saukuru 10-6 to bag K3,000 while the runners-up settled for K1,500.
In the Bowl final, Rakatani Flyers beat KK Knights 12-8 to pocket K1,500 while the runners-up grabbed K800.
