A CHURCH-run school in Port Moresby needs funding support upgrade its existing facilities and build a computer laboratory, library and a fence.
“The school has been operating since 1984, and most of the buildings are not in good condition for students and teachers to use,” Holy Rosary Catholic Primary School board chairman Martin Alois told The National.
Alois said the school did not only cater for students from around 6-Mile but from all over the city and the existing facilities could not cater for all of them.
“About 2,000 students attend the school and we need to provide conducive learning environment for them,” he said.
“We cannot wait for the Government all the time, we need to use our initiative and do what we can do at our level and call on the government later.”
Meanwhile, a business house, Supreme Investment at Six-Mile contributed K5,000 to start the fundraising.
“We thank Supreme Investment and its management for the timely help to kick-start our fundraising for the school projects,” Alois said.
He said the school was planning to host a fundraising dinner to raise funds for the school projects and he had appealed to everyone in Port Moresby to support them.
“The individual ticket cost K500, a table of 10 people cost K5,000 and special project sponsor ticket cost K10,000,” he said.
