THE death of a woman at Beuru in Oro Bay, Northern, has resulted in three homes burned and a family displaced over a sorcery claim, says Northern police commander Snr Insp Ewai Segi.
He said the sorcery claim came from the woman’s family, who claimed that a local businessman had caused the death of the woman.
“The family of the deceased are said to have allegedly been involved in the incident,” Snr Insp Segi told The National.
“However, because they are currently in a haus krai, police will attend to the complaint on Thursday (today) and we will get to the bottom of the issue.”
He said the sorcery claim was proved to be wrong by an autopsy that identified the cause of death was illness.
“So we are now looking at arresting the main suspect,” Snr Insp Segi said.
