Honour commitment, PPL told

THE people of Ulagunan and Vunabalbal in Kokopo, East New Britain, want PNG Power Ltd (PPL) management to honour its commitment and pay them for their services.
Kokopo town mayor Isidor Bonga said there were outstanding issues regarding complainants from his people of the two wards of Ulagunan and Vunabalbal against PPL for the non-payment of cleaning services and other related issues.
Bonga said, during the last meeting held on June 12 between the ENB government and the PPL business manager Henry Kwarula, resolutions were passed regarding the non-payment of cleaning services to the Ulagunan power station and other related issues but to date nothing has been honoured.
“My people have been manipulated for so long since the establishment of Ulagunan power station and on behalf of my people, I want the provincial administration to tell us what is delaying the process,” he said.
“PPL have been making millions of kina on that land and yet cannot compensate for the little things that people are entitled to.”
However, when The National contacted Kwarula for comments, he asked that Bonga and his people from the two wards to go and see him at the PPL office in Kokopo to sort out the issue. Attempts to contact the ENB administration was unsuccessful.
